Local residents joined advocates and officials from across New York in Albany yesterday to urge state officials to employ a consistent policy evaluating health impacts of the full lifecycle process of shale gas development.
Amid growing scientific evidence of potential risks, they requested that Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the departments of Environmental Conservation and Health conduct an independent, transparent, cumulative Health Impact Assessment (HIA) with public participation, to fully evaluate and address the impacts of the build-out of extensive gas infrastructure in New York State.
